At the EMT banquet last night I ate chicken, met nice sophomores, got introduced to Roommate J's creepy boss, and danced the night away. It was fun, especially since it was also somewhat chilly and I got to wear the shirt I had no opportunity to trot out during the winter.
This morning was spent in a haze of productivity and talking to homeless people in Panera (which seems to be the town homeless hot spot). My Freshman "I AM the Humanities" Seminar project is far too honest by half. I need to inject it with some falsehoods before I can face my professor with the finished draft. But it is shaping up well, and I had Roommate J read the portion I am showing the class on Tuesday and she liked it. Her exact words were, "This is so deep!" among other things. That was nice, but she's obviously never been to the class discussions, which makes my play's "depth" sound like surface writing.
Her reading of my draft excerpt led to a discussion of what we've accomplished this year and what we'd like to accomplish next year and then we started listening to empowering, loud exercise music and making lists of goals. It was all very relaxing.
