Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching
Southland is a great TV show. It started out on NBC, but they didn't know what to do with it, so it got canceled. Then TNT picked it up, and commissioned new (too-short) seasons, but it still struggles to get viewers. (For once I'm not part of the problem, since I watch it streaming on the TNT website.) Stylistically, it's like nothing else on TV. Tone-wise, it's somewhere between The Wire and Law & Order. Over the course of its broadcast shifts, the awesome characters have moved front and center and the boring ones have receded. Regina King kicks ass. Michael Cudlitz acts rings around people. Ben McKenzie...looks good in a uniform. And that's okay.
