Went to a Last Lecture (they're for seniors--the last one I went to was about doing your taxes) given by Master Awesome tonight. There was a lot of food for thought, but the big takeaway was that Lester Freamon was right: you need a hobby. Also, I should write every day. I've been pretty good at keeping up with my 211 words-a-day challenge, but I could be better. It reminded me of a conversation I had with PseudoUncle over Easter. He asked me why I wasn't going to Dublin and I explained (briefly) the dilemma that led me to this juncture: "I feel like I should have a backup plan. But on the other hand, to be a writer you have to write."
So I'm going to take my own advice, for once, and do just that.
